The Midnight of the Rose

Midnight of the Rose
Come, take a walk with me,
  through my flower garden.
The lavender and the orchids
set the scene with their perfumes and colors.
We walk past the lilies,
  past the violets and tulips.
We walk along the grassy path,
past marble statues and trickling fountains.
We walk to the most exulted flower,
the King of the garden kingdom,
  the crimson rose.
Born to rule he sits high on his throne,
pleasing us with sight and smell.
He dances in the midnight breeze,
whispering a song in our ears.
A song of love on the moonlit path
and the other flowers join in unison,
And sing of the Midnight of the Rose
