What Are You Running From?

Rain crashing to the ground,
As you run from everything,
Escaping and praying to be found,
Yet you understand nothing.

In truth no one is chasing you,
No one can follow,
But what is really true,
When your soul is hollow?

You’re running from the fear,
Running from all the doubt,
Your face is stained with tears,
As you search for a way out.

It feels like no one can see you,
As if they don’t even care,
You don’t know what to do,
You just know life isn’t fair.

But how were you to know,
That life would be so hard?
Not knowing where to go,
You fall broken and scarred.

Are you running from who you are?
From hatred, your lies and shame,
Running in circles, you won’t get far,
As your broken heart remains the same.

You’re choking on the air,
And your world colors itself black,
Life was never going to be fair,
It took everything you can’t get back.

Can you out run your fate?
Does the rain wash it all away?
Time is passing, you’re too late.
How could it end up this way?

As you fall limp to the earth,
The Heaven’s continue to weep,
For you were cursed at your birth,
With the broken heart you keep.

Silently you close your eyes,
Taking a final breath,
You send a prayer up to the skies,
Since you can’t run from death.
