The City Sleeps

The city is asleep,
lights died down,
people no where to be found.

The cars are asleep,
their engines no longer humming,
vomiting pollution into the air.

The prisons and the asylums are asleep,
their moans and their creaking unnecessary
and gone.

The moon is asleep,
unseen by the smog,
but still there, still in a slumber.

The grime is asleep,
tainting everything slowly, surely,
theretherethere.

The needle addicts and the doctors,
they're asleep too.
Helping no one, getting their fix.

The city sleeps,
the city sleeps.
