Creature of the Night

The nights were cold as always,
It had been rainy for a week.
I was tired, my senses dissolved to a haze.
Everything around me seemed to change.
"Will my Life change as well?" I thought, & it did.
My head was going wild,
Careless, nothing but a menace.
A broken whiskey bottle lay across the ground.
I was once again screaming at the midsummer's night,
Unwilling to go indoors.
The sky looks big & ugly like my soul.
I can't see light, only never-ending darkness.
Everything looks different,
The air smells damp,
It's hard to take it all in.
It's all so new, this life of darkness.
I contemplate this new life till it fills my brain.
My chances for survival are beyond most.
If this were you, you'd never know what hit you.
I feel dizzy, drawn, mauled,
I can't feel anything at all.
I stare at my reflection, it's hideous.
I can't believe my eyes,
I am a monster, a creature of the night.
