Alive

Glass is shattering
Blood is dripping
Fists are clashing
Conscience slipping

Why restrict to a place like this?
You look as if you’re walking in place
Why live your life with such emptiness?
Even as though you’re ready for change

You see these eyes can no longer darken
And this pain inside, it never eases up into me
It lingers, unseen, and suddenly begins to hearken
This flurry of confusion never bares sympathy

And with these fingers, I trace across my skin
I can feel every part of me, complete with sin
They teach us to live, breathe, speak our mind
Until you awake to see: you’re the last of your kind
