The Storm Surrounding Us All

The Storm Surrounding Us All

Some light and some dark,
All left with no spark,
But there is no end,
To what we must pretend,
For life would fall apart,
If we forgot the brutal start,
To the road that lies ahead,
Where we bury our beloved dead,
As a tear falls from my cheek,
Making me feel oh so weak,
I look down on my brothers,
That were so unlike all of the others,
Today it’s time to reflect,
Fane interest and show some respect,
For all the rain that fell,
And the dead we knew so well,
Not all roads led to Rome,
For some were in boxes when they returned home,
So today we try our best to remember,
The true meaning of this cold day in November,
That when freedom is challenged we it our all,
So that democracy and our peace shall never fall,
When words can never begin to describe,
All the families that war did deprive,
Though this is not the end of the fateful mission,
More a crossroads it’s time to make a crucial decision,
Do we go or do we stay,
And learn to fight some other day,
I don’t know now but they knew then,
All I can do is hope that they don’t ask again.
