The Waning Moon

Oh waning moon who shines the night time skies
And casts reflections on the crystal lakes:
Is the dark veil hiding your doleful eyes
A self-made mask concealing your heartaches?
Divested from all things you once held dear,
You've lost the will to hope and dream again;
For hopes and dreams, with love they must cohere,
And love is that which you wish to constrain.
So frightened now, you hide your lunar glow
And never show the beauty deep inside
Your heart; I know somewhere within your soul,
In me, you wish to open and confide.
But the dark veil bereaves me of your beams
That soothes my heart when I am left in cold.
Had you the strength to share with me your dreams,
Then in my arms I'd comfort you and hold.
Sweet waning moon,allow me to reveal
The love your veil now struggles to conceal.
