Alone with Desire

I sit alone, atop this balcony
With the proud sun shining my raven hair;
For all the while I'm lost in fantasy
And dreams of love with someone I can share.
Like birds that fly under Apollo's beams
And soar so free amongst the evening skies,
In pensive thought, I share with them my dreams
That give hope to these melancholic eyes;
Do not these eyes, shedding with diamond tears,
Deserve to view the face of love's sweet bliss;
Or will the tides of fate ensure my fears
That I will never taste a lover's kiss?
On balcony, alone with desire,
I dream of love I can not aquire.
