Don't Leave Me Behind

Trapped in time, I beg for your calls
I need those words “remember when”
Like an ugly addiction, I can’t be forgotten
Some stranger in the past, you forgot was your friend

I leave looking back in the rearview
I look out the window with my head in my hand
I don’t look at the wide expansive future
I just look at the footprints I left behind in the sand

I can’t turn around; I’m stuck in a limbo
Should I walk back, or never stop walking to
Should I detach, and forget all my ties
Or should I always remember you?

I’ll be stuck, but you’ll gradually move on
I’ll be here at my window, watching it frost
The past unclear through the opaque glass
Never letting myself forget what I had lost
