Never Mine

Too far gone we were sure
We are the end
picture perfect image of demure
I don't care enough to pretend

back to where I saw you
dark and fragile and sweet
all the pain has left heart shaped bruises;
has put me on my knees

Too far gone to meet my eyes
hide your weary soul
tear stained words all meaning goodbye
most of them mine to behold

watch the world turn on a dime
lose it's balance and shatter
honesty is a virtue, not a crime
but still you called it the latter

Too far gone tempers at boiling point
poison darts fly in every direction
dislocating all of our joints
giving us both new perspectives

never told you my actual thoughts
my actual fears or reasons
I know that I'll be never caught
I was exiled for my treason.
