Black Boy

He flows through life so easy.
The wind is his guide forever more,
No one can tell him any different,
He wonders why he’s where he is.
Life for him has a rough edge.
My boy, I call him, see him everyday,
And he goes down the path unforgiving.
But what is there to say?
The words go through his scarcely used mind.
Tell him, tell him again…
He thinks we’re lying.
But I love him and I will, always,
That black boy is mine.

When he sees me crying he gets soft inside,
“I love you” kisses me.
His love is one of a kind.
But when he goes in this chaotic world his face is hard.
He’s rough with his words, tough with his walk.
Is presence is one of a kind.
The inside of him is dying,
His mind is clouded with ignorance,
I wish my boy would open his eyes.
Because that black boy is mine.

He knows so little of his kind,
He knows so little of his language,
Black boy, black boy, don’t let them take you away.
He is taken from society with little reason why,
Black boy you’re hurting me,
I want to cry.
Then you say you love me and kiss me.
Black boy don’t leave.
They want to take you away.
But black boy you are mine.

I’ll fight for you till I die,
I’ll cry for you till you’re okay,
I’ll pray for you at night,
I’ll wait for your good day.

Black boy learn what’s really good in the hood,
Hold another child’s hand.
Don’t take that life away,
That life was given by god to take.
And the schools will call you a fool,
Sometimes they’ll help you too,
They’ll let you down in unknown ways,
Black boy, don’t be afraid.

Don’t be fooled by the pretty cover,
Black boy I love you so,
The world is filled with hatred for you,
Black boy, be my hero.

Please don’t get in that situation,
Where there is nothing you can do,
Black boy you are so beautiful,
Black boy I’ll always love you.

And then he reads my lips,
Then he says okay,
Listen to my words brother,
These words are for your health.
Don’t lurk around in life aimlessly,
Don’t fall into that very well hidden trap,
I’ve only got love for you,
Even when I talk a lot of crap.

Black boy be the one I look up to,
Black boy show me the way.
Don’t ever forget that I love you.
Black boy, it will be okay.

Black boy, you are ours, to share,
We love you… take care.

This is not to any black boy (man, guy) in particular. This is to all the black boys in the world. And it's not towards me either. It's towards all the black girls (women, ladies) in the world. Look at it metaphorically.
