Empty Words

She looks up with salted eyes
Peering into the night sky
Knowing the horror that lies ahead
She lets the knowledge flood her with dread
She bares her soul to the blind world
Exposing herself as a broken girl
She fills the air with her silent words
Feelings that go forever unheard
Her tongue is heavy with things left unsaid
And her spirit might as well be dead
But she's too lost to know her fate
And the tears fall in time with her heart-rate.
The earth will soak up her eternal blood
Leaving behind crimson mud
She picks at her skin with indifferent fingers
Relishing the pain that lingers
Happiness, hopeful and love
All things that exist above
But she's trapped beneath the surface
Drowning in her hated solace
Numb with no peace of mind
Sometimes, she wishes she were blind
So she never has to hate what she sees
When she looks in a mirror of could-bes
Soemthimes she wishes she were deaf
So she could forget the words and pain they left
Most of all she wishes she couldnt feel
Because emotions make the world real.
And if she had a choice
She would never use her voice
No one listens and in fact,
Her words just stab her in the back.
