Pain of Goodbye

The tears that had been barricaded and held back for days had finally had had enough and couldn’t contain themselves, burst rumbling forth though the walls, flooding and drowning everything in its path, with a all the sadness stored up they finally popped and seemed endless, pity swirling in each drop.

Haze filled her eyes and confusion muddled her brain. The well that seemed endless finally ran dry, facing the destruction. Her eyes puffy, her face swollen and tear streaked, the wreckless sobbing eased, and she regained control of herself. Her heart heavy with sadness she was at a loss what to do, what was the next move?

The sadness lapped over her in waves as realization, hitting hard against the pounding rocks that what she put off facing for so long was happening in a matter of mere hours. Inevitable. Things would never be the same, go back to the way they should. But everything is alright, everything is OK, just take one step at a time and know that you’re not going though it alone. That she loves you and will be back. That you guys have the rest of your life to discover together.

She picks up the phone mindlessly as her fingers numbly dial the number she knows by heart. She smiles weakly as a tear leaks out of the corner of her crinkled eyes at the sound of the familiar voice, knowing it’s time to say goodbye.
