The Truth About Friendship

As the sun slowly sets,
another friendship dies.
You were a bullet through the chest,
Screams releasing perching cries.

The war was over,
but ours had just begun.
I was locked up behind chains,
Not able to come undone.

The walls were thick,
Seeping within your lies.
It seemed I’d lost the race,
leaving you with top prize.

Your army was fooled,
Believing every word you’d said.
I saw behind the poison,
though the trust still bled.

Sometimes i think back,
Of the friendship we’d once had.
Then secrets were spilled,
leaving everyone mad.

Some stopped the poison,
others caught in the mess.
You were just a powerful drug
Leaving us in distress.

The true ones set me free,
Letting the sun rise above.
The only screams now came from you,
Letting go of the love.

One day I hope you come to realize,
how truly sad this has become.
It’s a little thing called Friendship,
And ours is surely done.
