Lightning

Storms make me cringe in fear
It doesn't matter 'cause every time
He let's me know he's here
This poem isn't just a happy rhyme
This is a short story to let you know
You won't find love just like that
First you must put on quite a show
But it's still not as simple as a gnat

This all started with a little giggle
We texted and talked, day through night
Then there was a little jiggle
Now everyday was dark before it was light
Something made him turn around
Every now and again to see my smiles
Sometimes his love wouldn't make a sound
Then, for me, he would run ten miles

Our friendship was bipolar
But that's what it always stayed
Love was as dull as a molar
And then it was sharp and sprayed

One day he stopped altogether
I thought we would never speak again
In the Fall, he swore to stay forever
He finally speared me with such a pain

I almost never trusted anymore
And what now? I fall for him again
Ahh. . . Amor. . . .
I can't help it, but then
What if I was wrong?
I can't help my love for him
This road has been so long
I'm now sore from limb to limb

So now when lightning strikes above
Here I am, warm in his lap
A feeling so strong must be love
This is nice enough for a nap. . . .
