Anti Hero

Choke you with a lifeline
I'm content to play my part
watch you pretend that everything's fine
and then help you fall apart
build you up to that all time high
then kick you at your all time low
laugh mockingly as you cry
but never let my hatred show

I'll be your friend for fun
a temporary confidant
I'll hand you that loaded gun
teach you a touch of defiance
I'll do everything but show you the target
I'll give you no direction or aim
you won't speak the same argot
so you can't even shove away the blame

we'll both know it's my fault
but we'll keep that secret hidden
our cycle will never halt
we're both a bit too guilt ridden
and this is what our friendship is
at best a dramatic comedy
tear each other up like this
and then wait for the storm to recede

sweet with bitter undertones
leave bite marks and bruises
scrape the skin off your bones
oblivious of the new contusions
we both just let your scars be
pointing them out would be of no gain
What the blind never want to see:
I'm not the hero, I'm the villain.
