The Sky Above

The sky above
A tender blend of reds and blues
Silent and forever moving
Watching us for all time
A heavenly emptiness

But yet here I stand
The ground beneath my feet
Unable to grasp the world above
Only able to watch from below
And wonder about its beauty

And as I watch it each day
I find myself alone
A solitude inescapable
For no matter where I go
Everyone always disappears

Leaving me and the sky
And the ground underneath me
The wind surrounding me
Only us left to ponder
The secret of the soul

And no matter what I may say
Never once to I hear a voice
Other than my own
Not even an empty echo
From the world surrounding me

This endless emptiness
How long must it last
I find nothing alive
And nothing dead
Only an endless void of nothing

And yet each day I live
Yearning for another
And finding none
Why is it this way
Why am I in this void
