Love Lost

I love you is the last thing I heard. My heart beat slow Ba bum.......Ba bum.......Ba bum. My mind slowly slipping away. I felt myself being broken. The pieces looking like an unfinished puzzle. Memories flashing one after another. Until I found the one I was looking for. It was so profound to me, and only me. Because it had never happened. And it was my favorite. It was my fantasy. My very own fairy tale. Like the ones all girls dream about. Where we imagine what we want in life. I wanted the one where the guy would take one look at you, and just knew you were the one for him. Where even though he knew that, he would win your heart by loving you for who you are, and didn't want to change a thing. By caring and being there for you. By sweeping you off your feet when you least expected, by giving you his heart to hold on to forever. That was my favorite memory. Beep.......Beep.......Beep. I opened my eyes. The first thing I found was someone in a chair next to me sleeping. They had concern and worry written all over their face. I tried not to wake them by sitting up, but they awoke on their own. He looked stricken; he asked me how I was feeling and I tried to answer, but I couldn't find the words. I just stared at him. He sat in a chair, his eyes glancing around the room, taking in his surroundings, until they landed on me. He smiled. I looked away, embarassed and trying to compose myself. When I looked back, he was still there, waiting patiently. I turned to face him. He sat up in anticipation. We sat there until he finally asked me if I had remembered what happened. I shook my head no. The look in his eyes was unbearable. They filled to the brim with tears. He asked me if I knew who he was. I shook my head again. Then, he asked me if I remembered who I was. I shook my head again. My eyes began to blur and I felt tears in my eyes. I don't know anything. I have no memory of who this is, what happened to me, how I got here, or who I am. I was overwhelmed, and he could see it.
