Love's Promise

You can hear the pitter-patter of the rain
As it cascades out of the sky onto Lover's Lane.
With new memories being made,
The old ones quickly start to fade.

My heart begins to quicken its pace
With one though of your handsome face.
Time begins to grow old and slow,
Everything's not with it's normal flow.

You caused an enormous eruption that day,
But not a person nor thing noticed any different way.
They all couldn't see how you came into view,
Or that when I found you--You were my missing clue.

I made a deal with Love that if I didn't find you soon,
She could take my heart and send me to the moon.
"You only have three days to find him!" Love said.
A million thoughts started going through my head.

"And if you should find him," She so suddenly stopped.
"I promise you forever happiness," Love was gone with a pop.
I had no time to waste, for I wanted to find
The man that was supposed to be all mine.

Well, I guess Love's promise was meant to be,
Because I found you with quite certain ease, you see?
I followed my heart an kept to it true,
All through day and night, and the black and blue.
