Saint Christopher

I love you the way crickets love the dead of the night
the way sharks search for affection in the coldest waters
the way the moon and the sun circle each other with baby earth
gliding in the middle of nowhere
the way taxis will pick up whoever needs to go somewhere
the way couples worship each others love
the way sunshine gleams from wedding bands
the way a child licks a snowcone on a hot summer day in the carnival
the way primadonnas bathe in perfume
the way calenders will always have a tommorow
the way true love glues souls together
(even if we end up decorating it with glitter and macaroni)
the way dead men tell no tales
(yea sad women write them down you know)
the way the Caluech shines every night
with passengers who dance in the regency ballroom
dancing to your caranary blues
I'm a coalmine and a salesman
The boy who sat on the creek
throwing rocks at rocks
the way I said I would
the way headphones
(turned up real, real loud)
can placate the noise of the world

Would you like to go waltzing with me?
Waltzing (matilda) with me?
The dogs are outside barking
the neighbors are fighting,
and the teary eyed boy across the street is sitting on the pavement again.
This is the world I'll miss when I leave.

Saint Christopher, if you're there-I'm calling out.
I'm calling out like I never have before.
I don't really have anything to ask for.
I have my battered suitcase, my favorite shirt, and my lucky shoes
Maybe a nice glass of water would be nice
but you wouldn't have any on you...would you?
I know, I know...I got what I paid for.

See these fireflies. They're so happy here. I like the way that, no matter what drawbacks they may have, they were all born so bright. So happy. I'd like to live like that you know.

Can you feel the heat?
The warm air of my ambitions?
They lie here on soft grass
like this mornings dew
What hope I had of growing up here
was truly a siren's song in the making

I failed.

The taxi is calling me, Saint Christopher. I'm going to go now.
Maybe we'll go waltzing tommorow?
I'm glad we had this talk
It was reassuring.
I'll try not to fall in love so hard this time
Oh and Saint Christopher?
you remind me of a friend I never knew

"Oh how I wish we could stay like this forever!"
