Beneath Her Wings

Beneath her wings
hide scars from pains caused long ago.
On her arms are bruises left over from the beatings.
Her heart shattered into a million pieces.
Her love taken from her
like the breath from a newborn.
Her life no longer meaningful.
Her eyes no longer crystal blue.
Her words no longer directed to him.
He is lost to her now.
They were broken apart,
separated from each other.
They were refused a meeting.
She feels all alone.
She feels broken
beneath her broken wings.
