Rock Bottom

I used to live on a cloud
High in the sky
Not a care in the world
A beautiful illusion of lies

Lies, white and fluffy as a cloud
Keeping me suspended
Fifty feet above ground

But that’s all a memory
A hazy beautiful muse
But I fell from that great height
And now lay broken and bruised

Here on rock bottom
There’s not a lie to be seen
Simply cold hard truth
Solely the hated and the mean

But also here on rock bottom
Among the crud and the scum
Is a frail young girl
Blinded by the sun

She’s never been sheltered by lies
Never been coddled by dreams
All she sees is reality
All she hears is screams

But she only ever looks up
Despite the cold and the rain
She only ever sees light
Despite the hate and the pain

She’s going to build her empire
From bottom up
It’ll be strong and true
With a foundation of rock
