Tragedy of War

Everyone, young and old run
For they fear the barrel of the gun
That stares them hard in the face
As the trigger is pulled the bullet makes its race

A man with a wife and a daughter
Whom he will never see because he is a victim of manslaughter
A woman with a husband she loves
She'll only see his face from heaven above

A daughter who was innocent and unaware
Was victim of a crime simply unfair
A son forced to fight in a war
He waved goodbye to his family for the last time as he entered the car

Desolate roads once populated
Have now been mutilated
Along with the broken bodies that lie on the ground
They are just thrown carelessly on top of a mound

The lost soul roaming the street
Hopes that war will face defeat
Maybe his family is still living
He'll soon see them dying

Until mankind learns to believe in love
Peace will never fly on the wings of a dove
As long as malice travels hard and far
The world will always face the tragedy of war

I suggest listening to the Eve of Destruction by Barry McGuire, it's a really powerful song.
