Painted Smile

On her face is a painted smile,
Though only to last a little while
For inside she knows it was her fault
When he started, she never said halt.
Perversion and torture fill her dreams
Please save me, her insides scream.
Fear replaces sleep and she starts to cry
Please god please just let me die
Good things her parents never say
Instead, you're worthless, a slut, just go away.
Loved she's told she'll never be
She has too much baggage can't she see?
On her closet floor so not to be found
She sobs careful not to make a sound.
Cold metal slides across her wrist
She wonders if she would be missed.
Echoes of words screamed yesterday, today
She just wants the pain to go away
Through her window streams mornings light
She hides her secret out of sight
Her pain will never go away
The painted on smile is here to stay.
