Ablation

A planet, a planet
I think I saw
Lost somewhere in blackness
That had become the sky
And the gasp that did escape my lips,
I cannot know, does it live
Off of the shock so pure,
The wonder, terror

Planets, I had seen before,
Against this atmosphere,
Warped and dented,
Far beyond this atmosphere
How had they existed, how
But as burning things,
Too faraway to reach with my hands,
Feel the glow against my palms

To be a traitor,
Revel under some alien light
From a body, a planet not mine,
Not my sun
Oh, I am ready to leave this sun behind
Abandon even those days
Where the light was golden,
Something to bask in

Oh, was I beautiful then,
Golden beneath this sky,
Colored like the eyes that had scathed
My body, stripped my aura away
My shroud, my beloved shroud,
Leaving me naught but my skin and bones,
This strange flesh, vulnerable
A violation, my beloved shroud, burned to dust

But the planet, how looming
How positively mine
Each swirl, each thread of the atmosphere,
I see it all before my eyes,
Colored like a cobblestone
I see with my eyes the rotation,
Make me yours,
You are mine

Scare away the stars,
I will not care
But oh God, when would I ever
Utter such words, the stars, the stars
That always remained,
The stars I had left, always
Burn me into your atmosphere
I swear, I swear, I will be pure
