Afraid

Walk these dark halls,
Nameless faces walk beside me,
I tremble in fear,
Knowing that one of ‘em is after me,
The light dims to translucent paleness,
The shaking of my body resides,
The honey brown color is drained from my eyes,
I peer into the foreign outside world,
Crime inhabits the streets,
Death is your new found glory,
It walks along your shadow,
Those who fear it never live satisfied,
Peering into the streets,
I find myself remembering,
Remembering the vulnerability that was,
The time I got attacked,
Held down by that knife at my throat,
Forced to do things,
Turning the purity of white to tainted red,
Now I walk these dark halls,
With these nameless faces,
For I am one of them. ©
