The Dancer

An elegant dance to a slow ballad
Fluid movement to melancholic music
Feet flit across the floor, it's almost acrobatic - they make no sound
It's as if there's no air, because no breath is ushered.
Suddenly the movement becomes blunderous.
Tendons become stringent.
She starts to stumble, she begins to fall
Knees buckle.
And she can't bring herself up.
The tune is stuck, playing endlessly into deafened ears.
To stand is to move mountains, So she lay there unmoving and stuck in comatose.
But once she finds the strength, deep within her body
She realizes that she can stand.
Eventually she is on two feet.
But, she feels she cannot dance so slowly, without a shudder.
