My Best Friend In the Bowl

You swam in a bowl.
Keeping your eyes on me, all the time.
Nothing but beautiful, you really were.
A ghetto girl once said, "Damn...You lookin' fine!"

Stalking me while I bathe.
Creepyin' on my siblings while they went.
My house guest's attention, you always seemed to crave
Oh you never questioned how else a fish's time should be spent.

I'll never forget the time that you moved into a new place.
Instead of a cramped little saucer,
You now lived in a five gallon vase.
I'm almost positive that you thought this new place was number-one.
But, I assure you, it weighed more than a ton.
I cleaned your home weekly, just to keep you sane.
Soaking wet, this job was a pain.

If I would've known, I would've kept your urn
Instead, I packed you up and we took a turn.
Back to your tiny firm.

We went through many memories together, Sooki.
Don't think I'll ever forget the day we tried using pet names with eachother.
I knew from day one that you did NOT want to be called Pooki.
Never could I have another.
Never another like you.

One day you got bored.
You could see me.
Of course you went and frolicked to the floor,
In a dimwitted attempt to flee.
I'm sorry I didn't see you.
I went to the bowl, noticing you were gone.
Asking my parents if they knew.

I'd like to think you were just excited to see me.
Jumping in excitement like the majestic creature you really are.
I'm just thankful that you didn't go too far.
You let me say goodbye, you let me set you free.

Sooki was a good fish. A very good fish, indeed. Stuck by my side for almost two years. R.I.P Fishy :)
