He Was The Pastor

There's nothing to do in this one horse town.
Everyone here look like a clown.

My old youth pastor came for a visit
Turns out, things aren't so good with the missus.

As people left the party and we were soon alone
He got a call on the phone

He'd been married
Oh, How I'd wish he would've carried
me over the threshold
but I didn't fit his perfect little mold.

I was 17.He was 27.
In that cheap hotel room, I found heaven.

*You cant run from love that’s meant to be,
Just let it shine on everything.

*Close your eyes, hold on tight,
let me run around in side of your mind
baby just for tonight let me just hold you

At the end of the night
He went home to church
I went to my house in spite
of everything my heart wanted to do.

2 months later,
I'm the traitor.

He claims I killed his future son.
He claims I murdered the
But what is done is done.

I did it for him.
My empty womb feels like a phantom limb.
I'm not strong enough to bear the guilt.
for under it i wilt.

*So here I sit with an empty glass.
And a last ciggerette.
Its closing time,
and I'm drunk again.
But somehow I make it home,
and cry myself to sleep.
But that's the way the day ends,
every night for me.
