My True Love

We pulled up to the theatre.
My true love and I.
We went to see a flick.
With someone we really loved,
Without whom we both swear we'd die.

We got our tickets.
And went to the darkest room.
With a huge screen before us,
And another couple sat behind us.
My arm went around the girl I was trying to woo.

The movie had started,
But my attention drifted,
To the lovely girl in my arms.
Snuggled up against my side.
Who with one motion I got the attention of so swift.

With my one free hand I lifted her chin.
Her face flashed towards mine.
I leaned in closer and for a moment.
Magic happened.
And I swear we stopped time.

As we pulled away.
I couldn't help but wonder.
How I met my true love so early.
And stole a kiss so quickly.
but for some reason it made me ponder.

Now that I am older.
I know the reason I was confused.
For the girl whom I held wasn't my true love.
Sadly it didn't work out between us.
But now looking back I'm amused.

For that day I met my true love.
Bumped into her while coming into the theatre.
Her boyfriend had given me a stern look.
I didn't think much of this encounter.
I didn't realize my life had changed sense I met her.

But now I have.
Cause she is now my wife.
And I'll tell my kids this story.
So they will always know.
True love does exist in life.

They may have even already ran into them.
