Choking On Old Photographs

Looking through all our old photos
Makes me reminisce about all the highs and lows.
I pick up the photo of you
That's stained with dust and residue.
I smile as I remember that night
It was our first Halloween and what a sight.
You had on a smile that could light up the whole world
And I was beaming like the luckiest girl.
I hold the photo near and dear to my chest
Rocking it back and forth like a baby bird in its nest.
Tears slide down as I remember what you said
Nearly choking now when I remembered that you're dead.
