Romance of a Knight and Princess

My fairytale in backwards form
How perplex, can we even have a tale
Of two girls dancing together in a storm?
The story will be told, just lift the veil

Once upon a time, three months ago
A girl met the prince's endangered lover
Who smiled and had a heart that seemed to glow
She is a princess, and I a knight to be discovered

The knight, she knew the prince very well
Knew he was a joker, knew his every trick
She prayed this girl wouldn't go through hell
Undeserving the pain left by a no good prick

Things seemed to be good in the kingdom
Yet underneath the princess was falling apart
In the place of her prince, a monster he'd become
But, she didn't leave as the monster had her heart

She was lost and unsure what to do
So she ran to the arms of the knight for advice
And the knight kept her close like glue
Rubbing her back and kissed her head twice

It was that night, in the darkness of a room
That the knight promised the princess her love forever
And sworn to herself that the prince would have his doom
Today, tomorrow, a month, he would pay, someday, whenever

So together they made a list of the pains and heartache
That foolish little prince caused to the beauty
No more would the knight let the princess break
And made revenge her final duty

Quickly the two became close, too close some say
Thought the knight had fallen for the princess
and it slowly torn them apart every night and day
and the knight soon fell into distress

Soon the two had gone different ways
"A Forever Goodbye" the princess said
The princess cried not, while the knight did for days
For inside, without her, the knight felt dead

So separated they were, walking the court
Seeing each other, trying to mask the pain
With walls so large they could be a fort
Until they were alone again

The Knight remembered the shared kisses
The late night cuddling, but no; nothing was there
For the princess is straight, and it's her she misses
And it was only her love she wanted to declare

They eventually made up, though it takes time
and the scars still run deep, they're mending
It's a fight between a friendship and a love crime
The knight will spend her days pretending

This tale is different then most you see
One girl loves the other who is "straight"
The princess is my friend, the knight, well that's me
and yet the two match up like soul mates
