Melancholy Poison

As stares increase
A lust for violence deep within
Creeps outwards in excess

The barrier is breaking
Slowly eaten away by acidic tongues
(Decomposition of the present calm)

Snickering resounds from hallow stairwells
Accusing laughter stabs the ears
Humiliation circulates throughout the blood
Images of demise blur the retinas
Smiles are worn out of style by memories long forgotten

An antidote is swallowed by desperate throats
Slumber falls upon exhausted eyelids
Closing the eyes permanently
Melancholy ceases to exist
