I hate family functions

I hate family functions
They groom us and tell you what to say
We just have to keep up impressions
And show we're making something if ourselves
So our parents look good
So our parents get the glory
Because inside their still children
Looking for approval in everything they do
From people they haven't seen in ages
People they won't see till the next wedding or funeral
Begging to be praised
And glowing with pride
I really my hate family functions
And the way they parade us around
Like show puppies
Making us talk to people
Who haven't seen us since we were running around naked
And hug old wemon
Who smell of moth balls and peppermints
O, how I HATE family functions
