Into the Cancer

Lights flicker on and off as though a sign.
We ignore staring straight.
We had said goodbye hours ago, but haven't moved.
She blinks, and I mimc. Like a lagging mirror I mirror her subtle waves.
She breathes in and out, gently telling her story
One breath at a time.
Should she leave? Should we not.

Glitter chokes her eyes in a hostile threat.
She splurts the water from her very soul.
Lies pour out, silently seeping my soles in crimson.
I smile.
Oh how it breaches me.
I diverge myself again into the cancer.
