My Dear Old Friend

Look what we’ve become, my friend. Taken to this bitter end, question marks at every end. Can’t we leave now, and go to then?

When we would laugh ‘til it seemed we’d die. Now we seem to fight each night. I was your sister; you were mine. Why did we have to leave that time?

Now the world’s gone cold, and we’ve grown old, and too far-gone are our memories of gold. Why must such treasures flee our minds? Will they be returned one day with time?

We attack, we bow, and crumble to the ground. We run, we strike, and hide our thoughts from the light. Though to save our lives, we would first speak the truth.

To you I say, my love will never fade. I will hold you in my heart until my dying day. And as life goes on, until I am dead, let these last words written be finally said:

Goodbye, my dear, our time is come to an end, though there may be a beginning in the futures ahead. I will always love you, my dear old friend.
