Memories

We saw you getting tired,
But there was nothing we could do,
We wrapped our arms around you,
And told you ‘we love you’,
We saw your eyes were closing,
Hardworking hands at rest,
That day we saw you pass away,
We could not make you stay.

Together we now are mourning,
We miss your happy cheer,
For you’re in heaven,
To know that you are gone for good,
And not to have you near.

Oh how we do miss you,
What I’d give to see you smile,
I miss you more day by day,
I love you all the while.

You are very special,
I keep you in my heart,
The memories and the joy,
The day that you did part.

Nothing can replace you,
Of that I am quite sure,
I will never forget you,
I’ll just love you more.

You’re here in spirit I know that,
Except it’s not the same,
I want you here beside me,
To hear you call my name.

I know you are in peace now,
I think of you and smile,
To be in heaven,
Looking down on earth,
I miss you all the while.

My life goes on,
But yours does not,
So I ask you one last thing,
Watch over us,
And keep us safe,
Until we meet again x
