His Eyes Unchanging

She's down on her knees
Praying he'll stay

He turns around
For just a fraction
Of a second and,

She thinks she's won
But he turns his back
On her again,

His eyes unchanging
Her's filled with tears,

His posture immaculate
Her's slumped and defeated

He fades away
Into the dark
Without seeing
The tears she cried,

Or the scars she bares
That lie hidden underneath
The layers of strength

And she'll never show him
The wounds that
He left her
To sew back up,

She'll never give him
The satisfaction
Of knowing she cared

Because the only thing worse
Than the scars
She already bares

Is letting him know
That he won the game
