The Girl

The girl sat in the centre of her bed
legs crossed underneath her
like she had sat when she was
at Primary School.
She was crying.
The tears cascaded down her cheeks
like a waterfall
over rocks.
And as she cried she looked up and
remembered that she had not
drawn the curtains
when the light had faded
from the sky.
It was raining.
She watched the raindrops
race down the window, illuminated
by the glow from next-door's kitchen.
And as she watched she felt
her own tears mingle with the sky's'.
Two things
shedding their tears together.
And the girl was glad.
Glad that she had something to share this
moment with.
Even if it was one of sorrow.
She knew that the sky
would never betray her secrets
in the way that people would.
And as her tears stopped,
so did the rain.
She smiled
and the sky smiled with her.
