I Recognize That I Am Gone
I recognize that I am gone
That I turned back too late
And now a tiny thing, I cry
A bitter slash upon the slate
Of heaven's white and perfect goal
I could not see before
As I drowned in a desert sand
To but succumb to sins I bore
By mislead hands and sorrow bred
In caverns much too deep
A hope begotten at the end
The start of dark and cloudy sleep
That now has overcome the sun
That once allowed a smile
A moment lost to troubled skies
The rain made tears appear worthwhile
Because I know that I am gone
Despite the chance to change
And so dear heart I melt away
While waiting for the world's exchange
That I turned back too late
And now a tiny thing, I cry
A bitter slash upon the slate
Of heaven's white and perfect goal
I could not see before
As I drowned in a desert sand
To but succumb to sins I bore
By mislead hands and sorrow bred
In caverns much too deep
A hope begotten at the end
The start of dark and cloudy sleep
That now has overcome the sun
That once allowed a smile
A moment lost to troubled skies
The rain made tears appear worthwhile
Because I know that I am gone
Despite the chance to change
And so dear heart I melt away
While waiting for the world's exchange
