Window To The Soul

From a first glance’s touch,
Thoughts escalating in my mind,
I wondered about you so much,
Daydreaming of the love I may find.

How do you give me butterflies,
From just a single look?
I can feel the blood in my cheeks rise,
You’re reading me like a book.

I brave a glimpse into your eyes,
The beautiful dark orbs of coal,
But in them are tears to never cry,
And the remnants of a hurting soul.

I see a small flicker of life,
The feelings you tried to kill,
The pain of fighting strife,
And emotions threatening to spill.

I can see your hope fading fast.
Eyes questioning, trying to think
Nightmares flood your haunting past,
Before the tears fall you quickly blink.

You’re heart broken and alone,
Are you losing the fight?
You can’t survive on your own,
You die a little more each night.

Walls built for your protection,
You cannot let anyone in,
Yet you’re dying for affection,
To heal the marks on your skin...

Your simple voice still unheard,
People have turned their backs on you
With all their promises of empty words,
You didn’t know what else to do.

I see spilled regret,
Deepening sorrow,
You’re trying to forget,
With no hope for tomorrow.

Every smile is always a fake,
For there is no glisten in your eyes,
You hold on to every mistake,
Your life has become a web of lies.

Your wounds are too deep,
But they lack life and blood,
Your only escape is in sleep,
But even then fear rains and floods.

Others judge you and state the verdict,
Your eyes focused on the ground below,
You’re in more pain then they predict,
And you’re haunted by things you don’t know.

Your eyes are unfocused now,
Dreaming of being any other place,
You’re desperate to get away some how,
You’re so tried of being the disgrace.

Slowly you begin to lower your eyes,
Begging to hide away your pain,
You’re trying to be deaf to their lies,
And ignore the glares of disdain.

Suddenly I watch your eyes cloud,
A morbid thought captures your mind,
Imagining yourself lying in a shroud,
Imagining leaving this world behind..

You question who would truly care,
They would never even know,
They don’t see you drowning in despair,
You think time is passing so slow...

Soon your choice is made,
And all your hope is gone,
Your strength starts to fade,
You won’t wake to see dawn.

I watched an internal war,
Finally come to an end,
You have nothing to fight for,
A broken heart won’t mend.

Your eyes dull in mortal remains,
There is no reason left to fight,
Soon your will empty your veins,
And put an end to it all tonight.

Suddenly you turn away,
After I saw an apocalypse unfold,
I wish I knew what to say,
About this tragedy your eyes told.

I take my place at your side,
And our eyes meet once more,
Though I fear that I will be denied,
I promise you things won’t be like before.

Your eyes slowly brightened,
Our fingers slowly intertwine,
I know you are frightened,
But maybe you could be mine?

Timid lips finally meet,
Jolting our souls with spark,
A simple kiss, perfect and sweet,
Creating a light in your dark.

Your eyes now hold desire and bliss,
Your hope is given a fighting chance,
Finally your life is given purpose,
Finding true love at first glance.
