Blonde Haze

Everything spinning. Spinning in happiness. The hazy day is bright and the corn stalks billowing in the breeze. Barefoot I run though the golden hay, brittle and sharp beneath my calloused feet. Out in the field I run towards him, the gem of my yellow patchwork dress pressed up against my legs as I run, my blonde hair following in messy strands. I reach him out of breath, my eyes and face glowing. Without a word his large rough hand gently strokes the side of my soft face as the clouds travel by and smile upon us. He tucks a strand of loose hair behind my ear and sticks a freshly plucked daisy in its place as he stares down at me with loving hazel eyes.

She is a blonde light. She is happiness. She is joy. She is hope. She is positivity. When she smiles, her white teeth shine a light and where the rays fall the ground begins to bloom. A kind word here. A smile there. She will never know the value it has or the worth she holds. Her small acts of kindness mean more than she knows, and her laugh spreads like wildfire, bringing the world to golden, glowing embers.

This poem is written in two parts; the first from the girls point of view, and the second from the boys point of view. It tells of a moment the two share on a sunny summers day. I tried to use descriptive language and create a hazy, dreamlike atmosphere with the theme of a yellow color and warmth throughout the piece. If you read, PLEASEPLEASEPLEASEE leave a comment and give me some feedback! I would soo appreciate it :)
