Forever and Always, Just Me

I am trapped in a cage
Some where to dark to see
I am all alone
It's just me

I watch the people go by
Showing a happy face
So they can't see the bars
Holding me in place

Some stop to question me
Seeing a sadness in my eyes
I tell them I'm happy, I'm fine
But those are just pretty lies

I am really trapped here
With no help in reach
No pearly gates
Or sandy beach

Sometimes I reach though the bars
And I grab a little gold key
But the lock holding me in
Doesn't fit- I fear it'll never be

So I sit in my cage
Where no one sees
And I am l alone
Forever always it's just me
