Scattered Memories and a Broken Song

Scatter the memories around the room
She wonders how it all ended so soon
Letters, yearbooks, pictures in frames
Nothing will ever be the same

All her memories lay forgotten
She need not recall their painful stings
Not the birthday card nor the photo booth pictures
Not the happiness that they used to bring

That life is now over, her happiness gone
She messed up so many significant things
Now angry, alone, with her sorrowful song
She slowly and quietly begins to sing

Her memories outweigh her aching heart
She longs to be happy once again
She knows with her old life she must part
This coat of memories she must shed

As the melody plays and her new life begins
She wonders if this time she'll actually win
But no matter how much she'll heal in time
Nothing will stop the broken song she left behind
