The Storm's REVin' Up

Thunderstorms; they can be either gentle or violent.

It will rain gently or come down in a torrential downpour.

Thunder will roll across the clouds,

Lightning will stretch over and around the night sky like a skeleton's hand.

Hearing the pitter patter of the rain can be soothing,

While the flashes of light through the windows so bright it's almost blinding.

The wind whistles against the screens, tree branches swaying slowly and hauntingly.

The rain pounds on the roof, pelting like tiny angry fists of fury.

Some would say when it rains angel are crying and mourning.

Others say hearing low thunder rolling across the sky it is a pounding bass drum.

When lightning flashes I hear cymbols crashing loudly as a crack of thunder resounds all around.

When I see the lightning streaks reach across and through the dark clouds,

I believe it is The Rev reaching out to everyone.

When I hear the rain pelting the windows and rooftop, it reminds me of the anger and sadness inside me.

If it's true that angels are crying when it rains, then I will mourn with them.

I'm sad that it had to be him.

I'm angry that it had to be him.

But he's forever in my heart <3

That's why – when a thunderstorm comes rolling in – I think of Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan.

His music will live on even through this nightmare.

He may be so far away but I feel him in the music and in my heart.
