The Love We Made In Vain

I lived my life for you,
forsaking my family,
my friends,
myself.

Dreaming of the day we would finally be together,
plans we made with best intentions,
layed to rest,
by the depth of your deceptions.

I ran to you,
arms wide open,
you weren't there when i needed you,
the world crashing down,
did you think to save me,
did you really care,
you left me to drown.

That night you said I lied,
what they did to me wasn't true,
you saw the scars and the evidence,
how could you?

You left me there in the garden we shared,
where as my body my soul was bared,
to you and you alone,
but you fed me to the sharks,
sending me back to an abusive home.

You said I was safe,
you would be there by the dawn of day,
we would run away together,
and never return.

I waited all day,
searching the horizon for your face,
slowly drained of hope and life,
you never came.

I would have died for you,
when you left I tried,
until my mother walked in,
she saved me that night.

I never saw you again,
never heard your voice,
your memory faded,
wiped out by your choice

Until one day,
you came back for me,
but i wasn't there,
in the garden we shared,
I traded it for a castle,
where i ruled as queen,
you came to me,
bared as I once was to you,
but it's too late,
theres nothing you can do.

I know now what you meant,
when you said it was for the best,
I found my knight in shining armour,
and my soul is at rest.

So I thank you false angel,
for failing me that day,
I'll never be hurt again,
by you or her,
and I will never forget,
the love we made in vain.
