The End

I sat under the Maple Tree
As the sun fell behind the horizon.
The first stars came out,
And I saw they were dim.
These first stars barely shone
Over the light of the dusky horizon.
Crickets began playing their song
For the stars,
But when they saw
How dim the stars were,
The crickets ceased.
Every animal silenced itself
Until the world was completly quiet.
Animals of the land, sky, and water
Even humans,
All quieted and looked at the sky.
And that was how the world ended.
When the stars were dim,
And the animals were quiet.
That was how the world ended,
And we watched it happen.
