In this world we live

We lived in a world full of walls
As kids, we grew up playing hide-and-seek behind them
Learning their secrets
But as we grew older, we questioned them
And now it's as if we'd never known them at all
Only now do our protectors become our captors
Only now do the walls that once held the dangers out,
Keep us at bay with the dangers of ourselves
And only now do we see that we built them with our own hands.
