You're a Tattoo

You shattered my heart,
You scattered the pieces.
There were trials from the start,
I simply smoothed out the creases.

Not staples, nor stitches,
Can fix this mess you made.
Not power, nor riches,
I’ve nothing to trade.

I won’t let you cripple me,
I’m sure I’ll recover.
If only you’d leave me be,
Go find a new unfortunate lover.

I’ve tried to stand up to you,
And make you go away.
But you’re like a fucking tattoo,
You’re forever here to stay.
