Kane's Memory

He went mad before my eyes
He screamed and raved
Then smiled, breathed happy lies
Then stopped, charged at mother
Hit her, slammed her to the wall
Finally someone called the cops, my brother
I'll never be able to erase what I saw
But I didn't cry, I was too young
It didn't seem real, what I saw that day
It seemed fake,
Like some sort of play
My father I watched them take
Then it began to click
This was real, it wasn't fake
My father was sick
The tears came and I started to cry
I couldn't move, I couldn't see
I watched the car drive away with my father
And no one would let me be
Everyone felt the need to bother me
As I thought about the man
Who had never hurt my mother or me
Had never gotten angry or mad
That I had had to watch,
Go insane before my eyes
